Wow! Class tonight had so many exciting ways to use technology. I am so glad I took the tech classes last year or was it two years ago? No matter when, iIt was good to rehear some of the content like Web 2.0. I am excited about the app Zike. How fun to have news articles about education, technology, my hobbies collected for me! I really think this is going to help me stay informed. As I listened about a PLN, I felt right at home. I started my craft blog, indysdesigns.blogspot.com, in June 2010. Through the years, I have learned to follow people using Google Reader and have people follow me. I have enjoyed being able to network with people who have the same interest. I am slowly developing relationships with some fellow crafters. As I develop a PLN for teaching, I have a feeling it will be easier to develop relationships. There seems to be a special bond that forms within the teaching community. I am staying positive on how twitter will help me. When I began to follow it a year or so ago, it drove me absolutely crazy. I am looking forward, okay maybe just being open-minded, to learning how it can be useful to an educator. In summary, I think this is going to be a fun term filled with useful ways to use technology!

The beginning 1991--Wow we have come so far in only 21 years. Where will we be in the next 21 years? I love the ability to purchase online. Students are leading the way in technology. The world is so much more open. Video sharing started in 2005.
Per Wikipedia WEB 2.0 means:
Web 2.0 is a loosely defined intersection of web application features that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design,[1] and collaboration on the World Wide Web. A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators (prosumers) of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumers) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them. Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, mashups and folksonomies.

Creative Commons--how you can share your work and allow others to use it--you own the rights to your creative works--Lets you, the owner, decide what people can and cannot do with things you have created. This allows a way for people to share/change what you have created. Allows you to collaborate and share material with other students, teachers, the world, and it can help you teach students about copyright.
How does it work?
Shared culture--being allowed to use other people's works without violating the copyright of owners. Use, learn, inspire other people with what is found online. Sharing allows for greater things being created.
All-rights reserved--protects you from people using your work with permission.
creative-commons--free copyright licenses--allows you to decide what you will and won't let people do with your works. Provides resources that you and your students can LEGALLY copy, modify, and reuse
