After watching the iTunesU assigned videos and reading the assigned articles, I explored iTunesU for about an hour trying to get a feel for what is available for me personally and for how I might use this within my classroom. I decided to watch a Singapore Math: Grade 3 video. I must say that this was the longest 15 minutes I have ever spent learning about place value. This is not a course I would want to subscribe.
I did visit Canyons District's site and was quite impressed. I had no idea that our Ed Tech's presented a weekly podcast of someone's reflections. I really liked Colleen's from September. I had forgotten how to use Land (Lamb?) school in the computer lab. I can't wait to go back and try this out. This would be so helpful when I need to show students how to do something. Looking at the large screen in front is very difficult. They are too short and sometimes what I am trying to so them is too small! Yeah for CSD's Ed Techs!
3rd Grade Mathematics--The Governor's Study Partner Program--I watched the expanded and standard form of whole numbers podcast. I could definitely use these podcasts for reteaching opportunities. I would really like to have my students in centers at least 2 times per week. Students could watch these and then practice. :)
I also liked Integrating iPads into the Classroom--This goes back to some really basic iPad how-tos, but I like knowing where I can go when my brain forgets, or I need to give a teacher or parent a quick tool to learn. I watched a video called Group Alerting that helps students be more accountable.
Hey, I found Rachel's VoiceThread from UCET on iTunes U. It's been so long since I've used VoiceThread that I wanted to find resources to help me re-learn! I found lots of resources!
