Cathy Andelin--Prezi presentation. What Comes Next After UTips--Hard Work. Figuring out why students didn't do well on the test. Good reflecting on why it didn't go well. Good job teaching them test-taking skills. I like free response to eliminate random guessing. Great reteaching the commutative property. Always fun to see and hear your chants and actions.
Stephen Bloom--UTips--lengthy test questions. Students are not very computer literate which takes time at first. Like the self-reflecting by students on what they enjoy better--paper/pencil vs. computer.
Nancy Brisbay
Bobbette Glassett Google survey--
Shanon Goodpasture --Poll Daddy--Free is always good. Had to learn how to make a survey for peers to take. Easy to create, make it 'pretty.' Some problems with sending it. Multiple ways to send out to take, such as email. Some problem with who responds. Results can be a bit challenging to look through and sort.
Jennifer Griffin
Wendy Hamann --Clickers are her favorite. Immediate feedback for both teacher and student--want to know why they miss a question. Clickers make learning feel like a game. Students really love using them! I agree. Students can demonstrate knowledge anonymoously--more honest with their answers if they think no one knows if they answer it wrong. Teacher can adjust lessons to meet student needs. Can celebrate success when whole class gets it right. Less correcting for teacher which allows more time to create assessments.
Jorgen Hollnagel
Jason Hunter --Poll Everywhere--Love your "high" tech graph! You just make me laugh! Love the video of students actually using their cell phones for a survey. Would like to try using Poll Everywhere or Poll Daddy. Student engagement is higher than paper/pencil. Can analyze data quickly. Could use it for exit tickets. How nice would it be to have response tools at students' fingertips on a daily basis. Great video!
Silvia Iglesias --Prezi presentation. Utips--only has English questions. Limited access to computers. First graders are not efficient on computers. Be sure to set the answers in UTips. Able to fix this online.
Jennifer Ipson --Anecdotal notes in Google Docs--I want to try this! This would be sooo helpful! You may be seeing me soon to help me set it up. The summary sheet would be a great way to see the trend. Good way to collect data to help you see trends. Teaching students how to use the technology and creating the assessment. Love those kid videos.
Molly Kendall --My Access--Teacher can create a prompt--computer gives feedback to students on Six-Traits. Can insert tools and align to standards. Can search by prompts, genres, etc. Can control when available and can make it homework. Decide how you want scores broken down. My Tutor provides feedback. My Editor saves lots of teacher time. Prewriting Wizard. I WANT to use it! What a fantastic tool for kids! I bet this is very motivating to get corrective feedback! When will younger grades have access to such an amazing tool. Student examples of different levels of understanding. Data driven--breaks it down by trait. Wowza!!! User friendly--both teacher and student. Misspelled word analysis to help guide what to teach in spelling.
Cynthia Lloyd --Keynote. 6th grade--limited access to computers at home, so they don't have basic computer skills. Used Arcademics in math centers to improve math facts. Can customize games/skills for each student. Make sure students work on their level. Individual progress reports--can see what games students like. Can play it anywhere--$0.99 for app on iPad. Shows when students play games. High interest and motivated! Has a class leader board. Home or school internet access! Disadvantages--want to play ALL the time, overly competitive, quieter students can get left out of group games, favorite games--may not have skill that needs to be practice. Big Disadvantage--COSTLY! Basic games are free, but limited. Data collection can show where students need extra support. Can differentiate instruction and what center time students need. Transferring knowledge of facts to 6th grade math---seeing improvement.
Chandra Martz --Used Pixie for Habitats--mixture of KidPix and Keynote--podcast. Can share projects but working on different computers. Sound can be added. Alternate form of assessment--creation of project to show understanding. Engaging and fun. Grade by rubrics. Has templates available--students fill in information. User friendly. Not on laptops--only the computer lab.
Libby McShinsky --Flubaroo--try using it with vocabulary. Can embed form in your Weebly. Send paper home and students enter answers at home. Grading assessment--Need to add flubaroo to grade information. Installs on spreadsheet in Google Docs. Great overview on youtube on other ways to flubaroo.
Bettina Rasmusson Clickers--students really enjoyed using them. Becomes easier for students with repeated use. The graphs are a fabulous! Software issues can be annoying! Can be used to collect daily data which could help with planning.
Katy Jo Roberts --Clickers--with Kindergarteners! How fun! Love that this tool can be used with the little kiddos. Love that they view Clickers as games!
David Selin -- SKyward. Love how Skyward puts grades into the grade book! This would be really nice to have, but not quite ready at the elementary level to push this! Guess I will have to use other methods and enter scores by hand! Bummer!
Jodee Steffensen--Great use of blogging to use growth over time. Like how you used online homework to help make it paperless, data providing information for reteaching, good facts. Great that you have daily online access.
Cassie Steiner --Clickers and SuccessNet--Data to drive instruction. Give Pretest and Posttest--using guided math groups to differentiate. Try doing daily Polls. For math do students solve problems on white boards then enter answers?
Shanda Thornell Clickers with the wee little ones! Nice overview. Love to see how younger grades can use these amazing technological tools. Nice presentation.
LeeAnne Walker Clickers--2nd grade--using preassessment with students caused some tears--so sad! Love the easy grading and having the technology available. There is a learning curve for teachers as well students. Provide enrichment for those who scored high.
Jared Ward -- Poll Daddy for teacher survey on technology. Flexibility and options in the form. Allow for multiple answers on a matrix question. Sharing options--embed on website, share a link, give from my iPad. Ind. feedback forms from each teacher. Aggregate data for entire schoo. Use small.url.canyonsdistrict.org shortens url addresses into a cnyns.org/ Tells how many people click on a link. Results can come back as a "Heat Map" Can get an individual responses report to see what a teacher needs. Drawbacks--only 200 responses per MONTH. Exporting data requires a paid upgrade. Difficult to share data with other team members.
Ginny Watts --Clickers--Again software issues. Data collection! Great job Ms. Watts. Come back to third grade!
Heather Weiler --
Mary Wilde My Access--6th grade--Used a Prezi--Can send online messages to students. Disadvantages--scoring can be manipulated by adding key words to boast scores. Limited--does not allow for writer's creativity license. Error analysis can help guide teacher in planning small/whole group instruction. Instant feedback is helpful to students. Access to computers can limited amount of submissions. Students motivated to improve their writing.
Lisa Young Skyward--presenting/teaching to faculty--Using Skyward to help teachers save time! Love how you interviewed the teachers! Very professional done! Very impressed Ms. Lisa! What a great tool to help your peers use this incredible tool!
Stephen Bloom--UTips--lengthy test questions. Students are not very computer literate which takes time at first. Like the self-reflecting by students on what they enjoy better--paper/pencil vs. computer.
