After reading the three articles listed above, how do you think multimedia, collaborative presentation tools like Glogster and VoiceThread can help you in your efforts to make your PLN mature and progress?
After reading the three articles, I feel overwhelmed! Such powerful tools, but how do I use them in my classroom and in building my PLN. After reading The PLN Matures. The Progression of the 21st Century Personal Learning Network. I am still in the lurking phase and moving into the conversing phase. I am not completely sure how this all will help make my PLN mature and progress. In all honesty, I am uncertain of how big a PLN I really want to have. Yes, I see the value of collaborating with other teachers and having the insights of teachers around the country (not ready for the world yet), but there is a very big part of me resisting. I want a life outside of my career. I have other interests, and a family, that I want to have. There are so many demands from the district already--I need to collaborate with my in-house coworkers about my students for RTI and Dragon Training. There is a new reading program that must be utilized. There is only so much time and I feel that something will have to give if I am to become more active in the Web 2.0 PLN. I think I need to continue learning and reflecting on what I really want out of this (PLN, Web 2.0). How do I want to use the PLN? I love that this class is pushing my thinking and challenging me to change, but there is no way that I can do it all. Like in all things in education, I need to focus on the areas that interests me the most. So what areas do I want to improve? What do I enjoy the most? Where should I devote my limited resource--time?
1. Assessment--best way to assess students to guide my instruction
2. Math--how to make it more meaningful
3. Technology--what/how to incorporate it into the classroom
4. Collaboration--in-house and virtually--how can I best use to better use my time
These are my 4 top priorities, so I need to begin developing and focusing my PLN towards these goals. With a more narrow focus, I am feeling less stressed. Now I need to find some hashtags on Twitter to start reading others thoughts. Then find several professionals that I feel a connection. I need to feel connected with someone before I have the confidence to join in the discussion and eventually collaborate with.

1. Students create a poster about different math concepts and tell how to solve different problems. Ex. students create an interactive poster on how addition is used in real world situation then produce a youtube video showing and explaining how to calculate 3-digit addition. Wow! How exciting would that be!
