So, so much good information tonight! I haven't used Dropbox as much as I should, but what a way to share with teachers, especially across the district! We are all using the same math program and soon a new reading program. Like all programs, there are strengths and weaknesses. Often quizzes, spiral review worksheets, practice sheets, projects are created by teachers to supplement materials provided by the publisher. Instead of every teacher creating these supporting materials, the materials created were placed in a Dropbox account for all teachers to access! Wahla! Less time wasted making and searching for materials! Working smarter, not harder!
Googledocs would be a smarter way to work! Again Canyons teachers are teaching the same concepts in the same time frame. If additional materials are being created, which they are, then having a group of teachers collaborating on the materials before dropping them in a Dropbox would ensure better materials being available.
I can see how Skype could be used in the classroom, but at this point I'm not sure if I am ready to use it. So many other tools to incorporate first! :)
Collaboration
Creativity--how to make it systematic? Very important to business.
Innovation--need to cultivate one's imaginations--imaginations can be revived.
To be creative you must do SOMETHING. It's putting your imagination to work.
Imagination the process of having ideas that have value. A PROCESS, not usually an event. Start with an idea, idea evolves. This process can be taught--just can't predict the outcome. Originality is the heart of this. Doesn't have to be original to mankind. The third component is the value of the idea.
Collaboration is 1 + 1 = 3. A team coming together to achieve more together than could be done separately. Coordination, cooperation, connection.
Drop Box--a way to collaborate.
* Could put all lesson plans in a Dropbox folder for teachers to share.
* Be aware that data can be lost. Always keep key information/data backed up
* Work on something on a desk top at home. Can go to school and get document from a different computer using Dropbox.
* Can put your classroom policies in a public folder--one place--
* Need to let "reluctant" peers see a "Purpose"
* Be careful how you save to ensure other users will be able to open
* Great way to share sub lesson plans
*
Skype--
virtual field trips
pen pals--virtually
develop PLN--face-to-face interaction with a person
Google Docs
Loving this! I've used this before as a math lead, but having a refresher is so cool. Wouldn't it be super cool to have students create a slide about themselves and then have it ready to show for back-to-school night! Using forms--creating surveys, especially at the beginning of the year would provide lots of data to help obtain background knowledge of students and/or parents! :)
